Meet our nutritionist
This is Rhiannon (aka @rhitrition). Rhiannon is founder of Rhitrition, bestselling author, podcast host of Food For Thought and mum to Zachary & Theo.
Rhiannon shares our view that great food starts with great and diverse ingredients. When it comes to developing our recipes, She is involved right from the start all the way to the approving the finished masterpiece.
When we set out to develop a new product, Rhiannon defines the nutrition parameters, the texture we should be aiming for, the size appropriate for the age guidance and any 'watch outs' on certain ingredients. With Rhiannon's help, our products go above and beyond in nutritional value. Our meals contain double the amount of protein than other brands, we launched the first ever dairy free yog*rt that is a source of calcium for tiny tummies and unlike other brands, we never pad out our meals with water or cheap ingredients.
Choose a peaceful time of day with few disruptions, at a similar time everyday.
Make sure you read up on the signs of gagging & choking in advance.
Aim for a smooth texture (almost like milk) when you start weaning to get your baby used to using their tongue to swallow
Learn the signs your baby shows you when they are full. Turning their head away, clamping mouth shut & spitting out food are all signs.
Think of eating the rainbow.
Research suggests the earlier you start introducing vegetables, the more likely they’ll accept them when they get older.
Be persistent. It can take over 15 times before new foods are accepted, so if they refuse something, try a different texture next time and mix foods before ruling it out.
Be a role model. Remember your
baby has never touched, smelt or
seen anything like it before, so you
can instil confidence.
Keep calm & wear a smile so
your baby feels encouraged. Try
not to get upset if it isn’t going as
planned, there’s always next time!
The first 1000 days are essential for getting those nutrients & variety of flavours in so make sure you are providing a balanced plate each time.
Have fun! Your tone & body language can make a big difference to the overall experience & what your baby choses to eat.
Print & stick to your fridge
